In honor of the courageous bullies and doggies who are now free of pain!
You will always be in our minds and hearts!

Please feel free to send FBR pictures of your pits and a brief memorial for them.

A letter to Butch

Dear Butch,
You didn't deserve to be killed.
You are good, funny, loved and valued.  Since I learned of what they did to you, I keep seeing a movie in my head, starring you!  You, prancing down the street in the Christmas parade (ok, until you got tired and had to be carried). You, pushing against the kennel gate with your big bowling ball head, trying for one more scratch, one more kiss. You, seeing your old friends in an unexpected place, and bowling us over to more efficiently give your pittie kisses.
We will expect the same type of greeting when we all meet again, my friend!
Much love,
your volunteer buddies

We are all devastated sweet little TJ didn't make it last night. Helene Diamond, TJ's devoted and loving foster/guardian who has been through so much with him is particularly destroyed. Thank you to all who cared about this special little dog. We would like TJ's legacy to be one of hope and love so that other dogs ca...n be spared the pain and suffering he had to endure in his short little life. (Stephanie)

Ena Silva, Bully Guardian Angel writes:

In memory of Horatio, a darling bully who was starved, abandoned, and abused. Horatio when I found him on july 4th 2008 regardless of his past and injuries was the sweetest and most loving bully, who came to this world to make it a better place, we will never forget you, our angel. I promise you to fight the BSL, to nourish the soul and body of doggies who have had a bad start in life, we will rescue them, love them and find them loving forever homes.

We tried to save you, dear Drama...you were only six months old! You had until July 7, 2008, but the shelter decided to take your life early because there was no room! Our heart bleeds with sorrow for you.

As we say good bye today, please only cry happy tears For I am in a place that knows no pain after waiting all these years God gave me a chance to know mercy and love before it was time to leave So to all my friends, look up to the sky, smile, and know I am free. -Angel

As Rescuers, we like to believe that our sole purpose is to save homeless animals from euthanasia and to place them in their forever homes. And even when founding our rescue, that very purpose became the name by which we are known today, "Take Me Home". But as anyone who has ever rescued an animal will understand, sometimes God has another plan for us. Sometimes God gives us years to make a difference. And in those cases, we are able to heal the sick, mend the broken hearted, and answer the plea, "Take Me Home." We are able to turn an animal's life around and provide a long future with a loving, stable family and the comfort of a home she would have never otherwise known. And sometimes we are given months to make a difference. And in those cases, we are able to show a senior dog the luxury of sleeping in a warm soft bed for the first time before it's too late. We are able to show a terminally sick animal what it feels like to experience proper medical treatment, a life without pain, and a peaceful passing in the arms of someone he can trust. But it is by far the most heavy hearted of rescues that leave us with only days to make a difference. And as rescuers, it is our duty, our responsibility to acknowledge that even when we are only left with days, we still can make that difference in the life of an abused, neglected, abandoned animal. It is through those rescues that God teaches us that our mission is not about quantity of time; it's about using whatever time we have left to fulfill our purpose; to show humanity before we must say good bye.

Lisa Diffenderfer and her children remember their handsome and loved Boo Boo.

I raised my kids, as Momma did, to love 4 footed friends; I taught them that God's Creatures were the best of Nature's Trends.

I put up with Water Dragons, they would snuggle, yes they did, And Guinea Pigs and Ferrets, sneaky critters, often hid. The Kitties loved to cuddle, meow meow meow, is what you heard, It's amazing how they listen, but ignore, the "Ruling" word.

But the doggies were my favorite, bringing joy to every day, They could help you when your world seemed down, and make life seem like play.

I remember when my Daughter asked, to have a Rotty Pup, I thought I'd be the smarter Mom, and ask her to "Cough Up". I told her if she paid the price, to buy the dog and shots, And pay for Puppy School, so she could learn good rules for Rotts.

She was 12 years old, but brave and bold, it didn't take her long, She delivered papers every day, 6 months worth, made her strong. And I made sure that I checked the vet and pet store, for the best, So her baby would not end up with bad hips, like all the rest.

But life doesn't deal you fairly, with the loves you share in life, So His puppyhood turned out to be, an operating strife. He made it through four surgerys, two knees were chopped up twice, But he never acted hateful, he enjoyed his painful life.

He grew stronger and bullheaded, though you did not touch his toes, But he never let you worry, Boo Boo would not show his woes. He grew happy and fun loving, and would follow till the end, And if you visited with food, he would be your loyal friend. And through the years I learned to love, the dog he did become, He was smart and was devoted, to my Daughter and my Son.

He was there for me when Momma passed, and understood my pain, And he never wanted more from me, than his heart could retain. So when late in life we found out, he had Cancer in his leg, I refused to hurt and chop him up, this time he need not beg.

So we spoiled him with All our Love, and pumped him full of pills, And we took him places that he liked, enjoying all his thrills.

But when the time came that he got that look upon his face, I knew I could not hold him from his peaceful after place. So when he laid upon the floor, and turned his eyes to say,

"Goodbye My Momma, don't you cry, someday again we'll play."

I held his head and rubbed his back, in seconds he was still, At least he didn't suffer, he let go on his own will.

And our last moments together, were the best that they could be, And I knew that where he went to, would be happy and pain free.

Bye Bye Boo Boo ... 2000 to 2008 Momma Lissa Loves You
